Love. Love. I had my first long form improv show yesterday at UCB. And I loved it.

ON THAT STAGE
It’s always so exciting when I am about to perform.  I get jitters in class as well as hours before a show but I moreso get excited moments before I‘m on stage. And this experience was no different.

There ‘s a rush that comes with performing. Once on stage you let it all go and have fun. And that’s what I found. Fun. Joy. Happiness. On that stage.

ON MY MIND

When I started my improv class 9 weeks ago, I knew this day was coming. I started my studying of long form improv apprehensive, intimidated, scared, etc.

What I learned through the course is that nothing really matters. Fear doesn’t really matter.  Had built the day in my head to be so intimidating, and scary. Fear is a personal construct. As individuals we create scenarios in our mind about all the terrible things that will happen when we fail (not IF we fail but WHEN). What I‘ve learned is “SO WHAT.”

Failure is beautiful.  I spent 8 weeks in improv 101 failing in the most beautiful and epic ways possible.  In that same time I created some amazing and hilarious scenes.   The failure and learning led to a 25 minute performance with my classmates full of laughter and joy.
